Flat-pack furniture design project

Overview: The students use their research into the current designer furniture market to guide them as they design, develop, model and manufacture a more affordable product which has the potential to be mass produced.  After exploring the features that make furniture "designer" they work through the design process, exploring the use of CAD/CAM and a broad range of materials, processes and techniques to develop a product that can be flat-packed before it is sold to the mass market.

Low-voltage decorative mood light project

Overview: The students are required to design, develop and prototype a low voltage lighting product.  They will investigate recent developments in lighting technology and consider how they can incorporate these new concepts into their own product.  Throughout the project the students will learn about the importance of experimentation, modelling and testing as they develop their design.  They will refine their chosen design solution through on-going evaluation, modification and re-modelling before producing a final prototype.
